The Original Santa Workshop Experience
How did the workshop come to be?
In 2012, my husband and I were standing in what seemed to be the longest line ever waiting for our son's first Santa photo at the local mall. We finally got to Santa, and by that point, our then 1 year old was about tapped out from waiting. He was crying, Santa seemed angry, and well- not a great photo. However, it was the first, so I crazily paid the $100 for the printed photo of my son who looked orange due to the quick print. ON our way leaving the mall we heard gunshots and thankfully made it out safely, but on the drive home that night I knew I needed to come up with something better, not just for my kid but for all kids.
I thought to myself, what about the neurodivergent families, families with special needs, children or parents who can't physically or mentally wait in a line. What about the medically fragile kids and families, would they never get to experience the magic of a Santa workshop either?
That didn't work for me.... therefore, in 2013, I actually partnered with a few hospitals to offer Santa photos there specifically for medically fragile kids and then in 2014, I became the first photographer in Lake Norman to offer a private Santa portrait session.
Always room to grow--
From private portrait sessions with Santa to the fully customized workshop it is today, there was a lot of growth, client input, and strategy which consistently evolves as does the community I'm led to serve. I want every kid & every family to be able to experience the magic of the holiday season, the joy of little surprises, and just feel that warm inclusivity that our world so desperately needs. To me, the holiday season is about giving and spreading that joy through random acts of kindness. Partner my love of magic with Santa, some stellar portraits, a sprinkle of giggles, and a dollop of fun and you've got the recipe for the workshop, well almost... because I can't tell you everything of course!
Is it worth it?
If you're looking for a quick photo with Santa, probably not. But if you're looking for an actual interactive experience to share with your family that they'll remember and cherish for years to come- absolutely! But, don't take my word for it, be sure to read the reviews of previous clients and see what they had to say!
